Join us on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at the next Midwest Cyber Security Alliance Meeting. Brandon Hollinder, Esq., and Adam Bottner from Epiq will provide practical tips and insights on organizing the data mining and subsequent notification process after a cybersecurity breach. Topics for discussion will include:

• Post-breach process, including mail call centers, mailing services, and credit monitoring and monitoring products

• The need for IT teams to understand the importance and mechanics of the data mining process before notification, including searching and reviewing for personally identifiable information (PII) and refining
search terms

• How AI integration can assist with the post-breach process, helping teams to be proactive and avoid the complexities of breach notification

Brandon Hollinder is a licensed attorney and has more than a decade and a half of experience in the profession. Today he is Vice President of eDiscovery and Cyber solutions at Epiq, the world's premier Alternative Legal Services provider. In this role, he leads and develops Epiq’s go to market strategy for its eDiscovery Managed Services and Cyber Incident Response business lines, focusing on partnering with clients to ensure their technology and professional service solutions are effectively designed and expertly implemented. A particular focus of the role is driving innovation in technology and process at Epiq as well as guiding clients in their journeys as they look to adopt and successfully integrate advanced analytics and generative AI solutions among others.

Adam Bottner is a 1984 graduate of University of Illinois and a 1987 graduate of IIT Chicago–Kent College of Law. Adam Bottner spent 14 years as a prosecutor with the Cook County State’s Attorney and the Illinois Attorney General where he served as Supervisor of the Environment and Energy Division and Chief of the Environmental Crimes Bureau, respectively. In private practice Adam defended clients in high volume document review cases involving toxic torts and securities fraud allegations.
With Epiq, Adam regularly works with clients on cyber incident matters, including high impact email compromises, to define the scope of the NPPI review and provide AI-enhanced review solutions.
Adam has also successfully provided guidance and support for a wide range of eDiscovery projects, including SEC and DOJ investigations, and complex civil litigation involving the pharmaceutical, health care, insurance, and financial services industries.
Adam has worked with many clients to scope and implement work flow solutions for the retention, collection, review and production of electronic data. Adam has presented numerous continuing legal education programs, including programs relating to eDiscovery management and litigation readiness.
Adam is an adjunct professor at IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law, where he has been teaching an electronic discovery class (eDiscovery 495) since 2011.
Adam was previously Chair of the Chicago Bar Association’s Federal Civil Practice Committee and Chair of the Cyber Law & Data Privacy Committee.
Adam is on the Advisory Board of the Midwest Cyber Security Alliance and is an active member of the Chicago Chapter of the International Association of Privacy Professionals.
